Thanks in advance for any help here.
My Base machine is running Windows Vista 64 bit.
I'm using VMWware Workstation 6 to run legacy apps with Windows XP Pro as the O/S on the virtual machine.
Got most things working including SMTP from my app inside the virtual machine to Outlook on the Vista Desktop.
I've got an ink jet printer on the Vista Machine and a laser printer on the office LAN accessed via an IP address.
My VMWare machine can't seem to be able to see any printers. I can try adding them, but they refuse to connect. I suspect Vista is blocking something, but not sure where to look next.

Found the answer myself. I was logging in to the VMware machine as local adminsitrator because I couldn't log in as a domain user.

On the Virtual machine, moved it to a Workgroup and then back to the domain. Also changed the name from the original clone at this point.

Then I could log in as a domain user and can see and connect to any printers on the network.

Hope this experience is useful to others
