vmware on server 2008

which vmware product runs on microsoft server 2008?

i want to install 2003 and 2008 servers (32 and 64 bit) on an 2008 server.

i cant use hyper-v because my cpu doesnt support...

Try installing the latest Bios. They may have added the functionality. As TheLad asks; what hardware are you using?

Looks like it supports 64 bit, but i can't definitely verify the Intel Virtualization Technology that is needed to run 64 Bit VM's

Core2duo E7200 does not support VT... starts with the E8200...

PS: VMWare Server and Workstation will run on that processor, and will allow to install Server 2003/2008, but...

if the Host OS is 32bit, it will balk at installing a 64bit guest... if the host is 64bit, then you will have no problem installing a 64bit guest...

now if VT is needed, then you are in for a SLOW ride...

On my VMware servers, It was a requirement to have VT in the Bios enabled to run 64 bit VM's. Now as far as running 2008 and then installing 64bit VM's on it hypervisor; I cannot say. This is something I will need to research further.

i have server 2008 host

i cant use hyper-v because my cpu is without vt

but i can install vmware and install 32 and 64 bit guests.that's just what i want...

you can install VMWare ESX, then you would only be able to do 32Bit VM's. If it does not have the Intel Virtualization Technology in the Bios settings for the CPU, then VMWare will not allow 64bit VM's.
