vmware freeze

I run vmware on mandrake 8.2. I have installed and configured win98 as a virtual machine. When I try to transfer a file from host to guest using network neighbourhood the file transfer freezes after a few megabytes and the whole PC locks up completely (no mouse movement, no escape). I have to power down the computer and restart.
I can FTP between the 2 with no problems but would prefer to use drag and drop within windows.
Has anyone seen anything similar ?

I had a problem similar, I found upgrading the kernel to 2.4.18-8.1mdk solved it.
