Dear all,

as a newbie I would like to know why you have to register each new VM
in the ESX configuration.
What's the idea / reason behind this procedure?

what exactly are you referring to? When you create a VM on the host it is automatically registered. If you take an already created VM and copy it to a new host the VM needs to be registered so that the host sees it.
