I'm running VMware 5.5 with a WIndows 2008 R2 guest host. After I shutdown my Windows 2008 R2 server and change the memory from 8G to 12G it won't restart. The VM has 350G of space of which I added 20G after this happened but it didn't fix it. If I change the memory value back to 8G it starts back up.

Here is the screen it displays..

Windows Boot Manager

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows.........

Status: 0xc0000225

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessable.

Any help would great!
Thanks!

Seems like your boot partition got jacked up as part of your process. Did you change the controller perhaps to/from paravirtual/lsi logic or something when you changed the drive size?

Regardless, your best hope is to try to rebuild your boot record:

1.Boot Windows 2008 R2 CD
2.Select repair
3.Open command prompt
4.Run the following commands:

Bootrec /fixmbr
Bootrec /fixboot
Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Cross your fingers and hope for the best.
