What's the best way to get a VMS system communicating with a Microsoft SQL server. I want to be able to gather the results of a stored procedure.
What's the easiest way - can I use an RPC call, or are they incompatible?

They shouldn't be incompatible, you're effectively logging on to another machine, executing a call, and logging off.

There might be ODBC drivers for the VMS box
google comes up with this, the connx looks promising

Second PaulTEG, we are currently using Connx software to get to our data files on a alpha 2100 VMS system.

The only down side that we have seen with Connx is that it is some what slow for the few relative files we have.

Did Connx support give you any reasons for the bottleneck?

It's an record indexing problem. Without key indexing, connx data dictionary uses their default connxrowid as a index which some what slower. We are currently using Vers. 8.0, a newer version is out which is suppose to help with this problem. We are converting our programs and data to an SQL Server and have opted not to upgrade.
