Vms lite analog vmail on Mitel EL

I have a analog voice mail on an Mitel EL
It all works as far as internal
But on external calls coming into the
Auto attendant it will not allow me to
Leave a message.

Call example would be.
Call 555-5555. Auto attendant answers
Dial ext 402 rings back the auto attendant.

If I dial 0 and transferred to 402
Voice mail answers. Help please. And thanks.
