VMPro Voicemail to gmail

I'm attempting to setup VM to Gmail and I've searched the site for any posts on this subject and with a 8.0 VMPro, I think I'm seeing I can't use TLS because there is no freaking option to use TLS in 8.0. But I'm being told by the customers server guy that I have to use port 587, which on the documentation I have, if your using port 587 TLS is required. So my other option would be port 465 which SSL is required, but I don't see anywhere to turn on SSL. So if you change it to port 465 does it just use SSL..?

I believe the answer is no, upgrade. They only shored up security to consider sending to "not an on-prem email server" later and let you use more secure methods.

Actually, look in the knowledge base re:R10 - they seem to have implemented a slicker way specifically for gmail - because presumably typing an account/password somewhere in an app like VMPro isn't that safe either. It seems to generate a unique account certificate that IPO can use to authenticate to send email. Pretty nifty actually.

yes you can but you have to use a 3rd party apt, sorry I can not remember it's name but do the research as it is out there, I will try to find out for you

hMail server will work but you are relaying the emails.

You could most likely use stunnel as well to relay out vm pro on port 25 to gmail on port 587.

I did see the FAQ that mentions using Stunnel but that was for embedded vm

Stunnel can be used for voicemail pro as well I have used it in that way before.

Critchey, when you set this up for VMPro did you set it up the same way as it shows in the FAQ for embedded vm.
In the FAQ it mentions setting up the SMTP tab in Manager, I would assume you do that on the VMPro and not the SMTP tab

When you use voicemail pro it does not use the smtp tab in manager. Also, when I used stunnel with voicemail pro, the test in control panel was not working but it still worked. Otherwise it was same as the FAQ.

Stupid question but if the customer has a 'server guy' aren't they likely to have their own SMTP server?

Not tried it myself but others have suggested GMX as alternative to Gmail.

I "believe" it does show in the sent folder. However, easiest test is to set an email address you have access too for an extension and leave a voicemail for that extension and make sure you receive the email. Once that is verified, you are safe to change that extension to the email address it should have.

Just to update ya'll on this issue, we did get this working without using Stunnel, below is how the VMPro was configured.

Mail Domain: johnsoncomp.org
Mail Server: smtp-relay.gmail.com
Port: 25
Sender: jcvoicemail@johnsoncomp.org
No authentication

Then on the VMPro server side, there IT guy enable relaying from within G-apps and specified the server's public IP address as ok for relaying, I left a few voicemails and it magically starting working.
