I have my suspicions here, but only suspicions......

I have a 2-system SCN that was running R8.0 until I upgraded to 11.0. The IPO upgrade process has gone well. However, when it comes to the VM Pro upgrades, not so much. I'm pretty sure everything has been by the book, unless I missed something.

I exported the mdb and the Accounts, Names, Greetings and WAVS folders as per usual. I proceded upgrading VMP from 8.1 to 9.1 without issue. Then, I upgraded to 11.0.4600.3, imported the mdb, and replaced the folders mentioned above. I tried going to online mode and was given an error that the VM Pro service either did not exist, or was not running. When I went to the machine's Services, the VM Pro Service showed that it was "Started" with a startup type of "Automatic". However, there was no option to stop or restart the service. when I clicked on it, there was a message stating that it was slated for deletion (or something to that affect). After rebooting the PC (Windows 7 Machine), The VMPro Service had disappeared. I have only done a few VM Pro upgrades in my 15 years with IP Office, as I am in a pretty rural area with very few SCN customers. Any help would be appreciated

Since you exported the mdb and the Accounts, Names, Greetings and WAVS folders as per usual then I would have just done a fresh install of VM Pro 11 rather than try upgrading. Once the fresh install was done you could just copy or import all of the files you previously exported.

Thank you, but I was warned against trying to uninstall the existing VM Pro. Something about certain elements not uninstalling properly. If you have a suggestion for a clean uninstall, I would be open to that.

UPDATE!!!!

After reinstalling VM Pro R11.0, the VM Pro Service has returned. However, it will not connect. I get "Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure". I know that this is probably due to the voicemail password in the IPO Security Settings and the VM Pro Client Administration (F9) settings not matching. I also know that the password in the IPO Security Settings is blank. However, for some unknown reason, I cannot access the (F9) Administration settings in the VM Pro Client. Nothing opens upon navigating there or pressing F9.

Dumbfounded

Finally found success after another reboot… I guess we’ll never know what the hang up was.

Hi Budbyrd

Can you explain what that actually is

And how you do it

Many thanks

Open the service. The second tab is for log on. Check the Local System Account and save. Otherwise it is tied to a user account and I have seen that cause problems.
