We have Avaya IPO Server Edition (v. R10) with an additional hard drive for call recording.

Question is what licenses are required to record calls for 100 users. Do we need VMPRO Recordings Administrator license or 100 ports recording channel licenses or both?

The actual recording is still done by Voicemail Pro, so you need to have enough voicemail channels for the number of simultaneous calls being recorded plus channels for other things the voicemail server is doing.

The Recordings Administrator license is for the Contact Recorder to then archive any recordings that Voicemail Pro supplies to it.

You might want to look at upgrading to Release 10.1 which has a new application called Media Manager which is an alternative to Contact Recorder and ultimately will replace Contact Recorder at some stage in the future (ie. you might not want to start building a large database of calls in Contact Recorder only to find it isn't supported anymore).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

OK got it. One more thing, if out of 100 users, 30 are IPOCC agents then we do not need VM channels for these agents for call recording, right? IPOCC agent license covers call recording?

For these kind of questions contact AVAYA APAC, they are there for such commercial questions.
If you have any technical issue you can come back here after reporting to Avaya.

PS, don't ask about IPCC, go to the Avaya International Users Forum.

The Agents do still require VM channels for recording of the calls but I believe like the ACCS you get a VM channel per Agent licence. So 30 Agents should give you 30 VM channels on top of the default.

You need to check the recording capacity for VM Pro as there is a limit on how many non-agents you can record.

You can record all IPOCC and ACCS agents but the limit is lower for regular users.
