I've got an open ticket with Avaya on this, but it seems to be going nowhere fast. Figured I'd post on here and see if anyone else has experienced similar.

Customer is making heavy use of VMPro modules with PostDial actions that play pre-recorded announcements over their paging system at their stores when keys are pressed on a few phones by users. I've got a few other sites with similar configurations for various purposes, and have always had examples of this in my lab as well however the last time I played with it was in the release 10 days.

Since upgrading this customer to 11.1 FP2 SP2 (which went surprisingly well given how upgrades seem to go lately) the recorded announcements play over the paging system as before, but have the beginning and ending of the prompt cut off. Length of the recording makes no difference, the beginning and end are always clipped. Before opening an SR with Avaya, I decided to replicate this on my lab at the same software level and sure enough, even on a clean configuration and a fresh install of 11.1 FP2 SP2 I'm having the same issue. Even relayed this info to a friend at another BP and they've confirmed the results. In the interim, 11.1 FP2 SP3 came out and sure enough the results are the same.

Given that "Tier III" at Avaya doesn't even seem to understand what it is we're even trying to do at this site, I figured I'd post here and see if anyone else has seen similar. I have a possible workaround in prepending and appending some silence to the wav files, but that seems like sort of a hack and might irritate the customer as they update these files somewhat regularly.

Thoughts or experiences from the crowd?

Upgraded from what?

What type of IP Office?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Upgraded from 10.0, and it's a 500v2 chassis. Version upgrading from doesn't seem too relevant because this behavior is easily reproducible on a fresh install/blank configuration of both 11.1 FP2 SP2 and 11.1 FP2 SP3 as well.

Additionally to rule out issues with the wav file format and linux permissions, I created a similar PostDial module in my lab environment and used EditPlaylist to record a fresh wav file directly from a telephone. Same issue, during playback the beginning and end are cut off. Also tried multiple destinations for the playback, doesn't matter if it's group page or a page port. Same result.

Version upgrade from (ie. version where it works) gives us a chance to ponder known changes between versions that might be the cause. But naturally if you don't want help carry on knocking us for asking...

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

No offense was meant in my statement, I was just providing clarification that the issue didn't seem to be related to a particular upgrade path (because I can reproduce the issue with a freshly installed SD card, a configuration with only enough data entered to test this feature and a cleanly installed App Server VM) but rather was likely a software bug introduced somewhere in the 11 or 11.1 software trains.
