Hi,

I've got a VM Pro installation that is misbehaving - it works in all aspects apart from refusing to send emails to the Exchange server. In dbgview, I see this line:

CSMTPConnection::Connect: Could not connect to the SMTP server synapse.com on port 25.

Synapse.com is the email domain, not the mail server, so this is the problem; however in the VMPro control panel item, I've defined the SMTP server to be 192.168.1.100 - I've also defined this in the Voicemail Pro Client, so it appears that this is not getting committed. Is there a way around this, like manually setting it in the registry somewhere?

I've also tried using the MAPI setting to get around this, but this also fails, showing the following in the log:
Exception has occurred in CMAPIImpl::SendEmail (.\MAPIImpl.cpp[1196])

I'e heard VMPro MAPI is unreliable, so I'm happy to just use SMTP, but I'm also happy to use any solution that works! Outlook 2003 is installed on the server, so it is a supported MAPI client.

Thanks,

Will

Yes, it is using port 25. The problem is that VMPro has got it into its head that Synapse.com is the name of the mailserver, when it is not - it's just the domain name. It should be sending email to 192.168.1.100.

Cheers

Then change it in VMPro.
You should not set it from the control panel but from the client (F9)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Peter, he has, wjtcol try changing the "EMailServer" key here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Avaya\Media Services\Directories :)

Thanks amriddle - that registry setting was set to the NETBIOS name of the mail server, EXCHANGE1, which should have worked - I've set it to 192.168.1.100 though. I've restarted the VMPro service, but it's still failing with
"CSMTPConnection::Connect: Could not connect to the SMTP server Synapse.com on port 25. Error 11001 [0x2af9] (No such host is known.)"

Cheers [smile]

Crazy, I would backup callflows, messages, greetings etc and re-install VM Pro :)

Hmm, that's probably the best route to go down. I was thinking maybe install the latest version of VMPro - I don't know what the licensing situation would be though - it's licensed on the PBX, but that's running v6 - would that play alright with the VMPro 8.1, or would it insist on the PBX running 8 as well?

Cheers

Don't mismatch VM and system levels, causes nothing but strange issues :)

OK, I'll behave myself; 6.1 again it is then

Thanks for your guidance [smile]

Can you show us a screenshot of the SMTP settings in the client?
