Is it better to keep everything in a Virtaul file or allow the virtual servers to see a lun on the SAN for userdata, and general storage.
I am currently configure up our Virtual server enviroment, I have several servers to migrate over. some are NAS devices. Would it be better to have small virtaul machine for just the windows OS and allow that server to see an area on tha SAN for userdata storage.
Or would it be better to have VMDK for everything all the userdata stored in these files.

With VMDK files we could snapshot these and just back these up.

Just a talking point really would like to get so views and opions.
