Hi all

I'me having an issue with a restore to the vMSL via the network share, I have tested the share with a windows machine and all is OK.

I have followed the wizard and all looks good but the connection fails, the machines are on the same subnet so no default gateway needed, the thing I find confusing is that it fails to ask for confirmation of the DNS server but does ask for a DNS name??

I have run a continuous ping trace whilst the machine is trying to collect the backup but get no reply..

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

By the way I've tested to 2 machines and confirmed no application firewall or windows firewall is running on either

You are trying to restore the MSL configuration to a virtual product?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

I just had that very same problem yesterday. My 'solution' was to create an iso on my pc (using Folder2iso) with the backup file in it, then mount that to the system using the vsphere client.

Figured that was easier than scratching my head.

I'll be honest Irwin you've lost me, how do you mount it to the vSphere client I'm intrigued?

Create an iso file with the backup in it.
On the vSphere client, select your vm and above the panel window there is a 'Connect CD/DVD' button. Hit that, select 'Connect to ISO image'.

It mounts the local iso on your pc like it's a physical drive on the vm.

Fantastic, for the restore from memory (off site now) you get the option to restore from network drive and removeable drive do you just select the later?
