Hi,

Does anyone of you already have experience with back-upping VM-ware servers, we use Commvault Galaxy to do the trick and I've already installed several clients on the virtual machines but has anyone tried to do a backup of the entire vm-ware + virtual servers?

If PC's where simple,

Who needs us? :)

If I understand you correctly you want to backup the entire contents of a virtual OS within Vmware...correct?

If you do want to backup the virtual OSs then boot to the host OS and make replicas of the virtual OS files. You can find the location of these files through clicking properties on the OS definition via the main Vmware screen. With replicas of the files you'll have a good point-in-time backup of your entire virtual OS. The size of the files will depend upon your initial virtual OS filesystem definition (defaults to 4 Gb).

Vmware actually touts the ability to perform easy point in time backups of virtual servers as a major business value in their GSX and ESX server lines.
