I have a customer that I am about to do an install for that does not have exchange but just uses POP3 for thier email. I havent had to work with voicemail to email yet in this scenario but I was wondering if anyone has this working? I know there isnt a username and password field for the 3300 to authenticate before sending the mail so Im thinking the ISP will block these messages? anyone know the gotchas of this or if it will actually work without an exchange server?

I will be installing a 3300 cx on mcd 4.0

THanks,

POP3 is for receiving emails only. You cannot send to POP3 server. So you have to find an appropriate SMTP server which will deliver your emails. Typicaly you should be able to use the same SMTP which your customer using for sending. Check their email client settings for information.

a 3300/MCD is unable to do an authenticated send to an smtp server unless there is some undocumented change in the last release. it is getting harder and harder to find an smtp server that does not require authentication to send. a 200ICP on the other hand, does do authenticated sends

You can run your own SMTP server for sending mesages. There are lots of free Windows and *NIX SMTP servers out there. You can use VMWare Player if you wish to use one of the office computers and isolate SMTP from host OS
