NEC 2000 IPS PBX
NEC AD-40 8 port Voice Mail

Voice Mail was having a problem this morning (port 8 was stuck on "PBX Lamp" and users were complaining about their vm lights not going out.) so I rebooted it. Now Ports 5,6,7,8 return a high pitched tone instead of the voice prompt "please enter your security code". I changed the ports from Ans to Busy to keep the system from accessing them. I tried rebooting and it doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas?

I did a soft boot on the VM the first time and it did not make a difference. Eventually I did a hard boot on the VM and all 8 ports did come back online. I never did reboot the PBX. So the system is working now.

This is the first time this has happened in the 2 1/2 years we've been running the system. Should I be concerned that a component is failing?

Looks like it's not working again. If you try and access voice mail and you get ports 5-8 the phone displays CF NANS and rings without answer.

Any ideas?

When you dial them directly they ring with no answer. If you try to take local control of them the system responds with a string of error codes. I'm guessing this problem is a hardware failure of the four port card. Looks like it's time to spend some money.

Thanks!

My money's on the voice board. Sorry to hear that. Could be worse! Could be me having to cough up that money. Look around you might be able to get one cheap. That's why God invented Ebay.
