VM Pro running as service on 2000 pro pc, customer is religious with microsoft updates, they always reboot pc after the latest update, vm runs ok, till later in the night or early next day the vm service stops working. Every time! Not a dongle or license issue either.

Soopa Doopa Intergalactic IP Office installation mechanic and configuration corruptor from way back.

Is the server running any type of daily backup scripts. Some of these scripts will stop and start serices before and after backup, but may need to be configured.

Also, check your Event Viewer. I was having problems with the service just randomly shutting down with an error message logged to the Event Log. What I ended up doing is writing a script to check that the service was running and restarting it if needed. Then after playing a bit, found an option in the service options under the "Recovery" tab. I set it up to automagically restart the sevice after 1 minute. No problems since.

What version are you on? We had the same problem on a Win2k3 server with the VM Pro service stopping unexpectedly. We upgraded to the latest patch (2.1.14) and all is OK now.

I'm still using an older version (the one with IPO 2.0.18). With the issues with even some of the newest revs, I think I am going to stay with it for now. Works just like we want it to.
I was aware of the problem being associated with my current version, but the work around is easy and acceptable.
