Am sure I read something many moons ago that VM Pro shouldn't be installed on the exchange server. Did I imagine that as can't find a reference to it now??

If you intend to arrange your own execution then install on a exchange server or better yet then domain controller. Otherwise live long and install on its OWN server.

That's what I thought and I advised another that it shouldn't go on an exchange server but he said that his tech support said that it was ok to install on an exchange server. Do you know where the documentation is as I would like to show him in black and white?

PS. IS it something to do with having to have an email client on the VM Pro server and that is where the problem is as you shouldn't have a mapi client on the same mcahine as the exchange server??

VMP has an SMTP client that operates on Port 25 as does Exchange. If you install an Outlook client (which is typically a bad idea although there are some situations where you may want to) and use the MAPI client you can still get VM to Email out of VMP when installed on the Exchange server.

Still, it is terrible business practice to install 3rd party software on either a domain controller or Exchange server. Far more ports need to be open to the server with VMP installed on it than are necessary for normal operation of those server roles.
