VM light wont go off

Merlin Legend System Release 2 w/ Merlin Mail Release 2


Just switched extensions, now the light on the phone
indicates there is a message, but there isnt any. How
do I get this VM indicator light to turn off ?

any help appreciated - Steve

Assuming you have a display phone, at the phone with the light you think is on when it shouldn't be, do this:

Touch Menu, Messages, Delete Messsage.

If it comes back on, then you may have another problem.

We will cross that bridge when (or if) we get to it.....

It did go off, but what would be the cause
of a light staying on ? Just curious...

The first thing would be General Mail Box Ownership.

Also, they could be the reciever for the FAX Extension.

OR, Outcalling could be turned on and set to send a MWL signal to their phone for a different mail box.

OR, it could have been something turned on by the VM for the other user of this extension.

When you say you "switched" extensions, did you swap extensions by renumbering? And one of the phones had a message before the swap, and now the light is still on at the "wrong" phone? Under the Maintaince menu, you can clear ALL the MW lights in the system, then send a message to the VM to relight only the correct lights.

That sounds like a good idea Tommy.
And yes I did renumber extensions.
Person was moving to a new location.
