I have a client with a partner ACS system with a partner VM(release 6)?

they say that a few times a day there phone will ring and its the voicemail calling saying thats the vm box is full and needs to be checked, and to turn this message of they can hit *#... its the same message that plays if i just go to the extension(15) and check the vm....

i went in and turned off message notification, then went so far as to delete the mailbox for that extension... they say it still calls them.

anyone see this know what happening?

Some OTHER mailbox has its outcalling turned on, and has the outcalling number NOT programmed with the leading 9*. The number they have programmed is 1-5XX-XXX-XXXX, and that is why Ext. 15 is ringing with the call.

The easiest way to find the offending mailbox is through the programming GUI, because you can look at the outcalling list for each mailbox. Otherwise, you need to log into each mailbox, and play their outcalling lists, one by one.

Thanks touchtonetommy.... that makes perfect sense since we are in the 508 areacode... ive never gone in throuh the gui programming... unless you mean using a display set?

is there a way to access the VM using like hyperterminal or something?

thanks!

Also: i deleted the mailbox for extension 15... would this mean that those outcalling message would then go to the receptionist/general mailbox? if so that would make sense as explain the issue

You can use hyerterminal if you have the 355 adapter to plug into the RS-232 port on the VM module. Or, if you have a modem, have it call into the voicemail system, pause, and then dial **3 to access the internal modem. When it connects, press Enter, then use sysadmin, and the numeric password from mailbox 0 as the password. From there, you can pull a configuration report, which will be a lengthy text file, that you can then search for outcalling numbers.

Deleting the mailbox at 15 won't solve the problem, unless that WAS the mailbox doing the outcalling. If it was a different mailbox, 15 will still be receiving the calls.

TTT,

Thanks again... im not farmiliar with a 355 adapater. can you link me to what id be looking for... ill order one online if available. once connected to the RS232 port, what are the settings in hpyerterminal(i.e. 2400 baud,8,1,none)?

when connected in hyperterminal, does it ask for a username and password, if so, what would that be?

admin VM password for this particular system is ext 99, pw 123456

thanks!!!

OK, if the system administrator mailbox is 99, you have a VS mail, not a Partner Messaging, so cancel the advice on hyperterminal and the 355 adapter, and also cancel the advice on the programming GUI.

You will need to log into EVERY mailbox, one at a time, select option 6 for outcalling. If you hear that outcalling is turned ON, then press the digit to "review your outcalling list", and listen to each telephone number to make sure that they start with 9*. When you find the one that starts with 15, you've found the one to change.

TTT,

thanks a million... shouldnt be too bad as there are only 18-20 phones and i know of only 2 or 3 people who use outcalling. should not too painful.

so it looks like they dont need to dial a 9 to get an outside line.... so should they have a 9* before the outdial number? or is there something else i am missing?

When an extension is put into Hunt Group 7, as a VM port, it automatically has its Auto Line Select set to Intercom first, then the outside lines. That way, when it needs to dial Intercom #09-XX to turn on a message waiting light, it only needs to come off hook, dial, and hang up. So when it needs to do outcalling, it needs 9 to get to an outside line, * to wait 2 seconds for the dial tone to connect, and then dial the rest of the number.

(You can set outcalling to dial another extension number on purpose, say you need your mailbox to call you in the conference room if a message is left - program the outcalling with just a 2-digit extension number)
