If you need a java runtime and don't have VM then you can use the Sun Microsystems Java runtime. I am using it on XP Pro and have had no problems.

go to java.sun.com/downloads.html and download the JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition.

There are versions for all operating systems (i have used it on Win Me, Win 2000 before).

Hope this helps you all.
