VM Alarm 0 on master phone?

I am very new to this phone system, basically they wanted to set up a new special greeting. A programmer used a handset to program, now the master phone says VM Alarm 0 and the company has had no voicemail since. It rings or places callers on hold. We only have access to the handsets, the serial connection hasn't worked for us. Can anyone please help? We are dead in the water and I would really appriciate the help! Thank you
