We have about 15 HP switches on our facility. Right now we have 1 network no Vlans. I've setup VLANs on cisco 3550 switches before in very simple setups. I dont know much about HP switches at all.

I want to add a vlan to the mix since we use IP phones.

Right now our network is like 35.36.X.X 255.255.0.0

So if I added a VOIP vlan would I split that up?
35.36.0-128.X 255.255.128.0 vlan 1
35.56.129-256.X 255.255.128.0 vlan 2 Voip

Setup the seperate Vlans on all 15 switches.

Then our gateway (sonicwall pro 2040) Leave the lan interface at 35.36.X.X 255.255.0.0

So then on both VLans I could use the pro 2040 as the default gateway?

Our core switch 4104gl is that a layer 3 switch?

The other switches are 2626poe 2650 and 2848

35.36.0-128.X 255.255.128.0 vlan 1
35.56.129-256.X 255.255.128.0 vlan 2 Voip*****WRONG

Use a private scheme and then come back for advice.

For info

10.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.0.0.0 (Class A/8)
172.16.xxx.xxx to 172.31.xxx.xxx (Class B/16)
192.168.xxx.xxx 255.255.0.0 (Class B, you should use /24)

For class C, the standards do allow you to use /16, but not advised.

I setup a test bed and got everything working so far. We are using a private setup but I was just changing the ips to use as examples.
