We are upgrading three of our sites to Avaya IPO. Each site will have its own controller with the voicemail and fax server located at our central site. We are in the initial planning phase and I had a few questions about the VLAN configuration.

1. Will each location require to be on the same voice VLAN or is it okay for each location to have its own VLAN dedicated to voice?

2. Do the servers need to be on a separate VLAN as the phones or can it be the same?

Thanks for your help. This site and the members on here are amazing.

1. For continuity purposes, using the same VLANs numbers at each site would be helpful, but it's not required.

2. You can run everything on a single VLAN (I do at a few sites). If you do this, be sure to use the proper subnets so you don't run out of IPs. (for instance-- don't use 192.168.1.X if you're EVER going to have more than 254 devices at that site)

I'm a big fan of 10.XXX.xxx.0 Where XXX dictates the site, and xxx dictates the type of device.
