We have two 3com 3900 switches with fibre connections between them, and from one swtich to the two primary servers (PDC and BDC.) They are set for default VLAN1 and have the fibre ports between them (25 and 37) defined as a trunk. All uses can browse all other users and servers. I have no WINS server running, just the PDC (acting as master browser.) I would like to add DHCP and DNS (adding a Win2K server to this network and eliminate the static addressing we use now.
I understand that there are problems using auto-negotiation and DHCP together, but I cannot locate the DHCP server from ANY port on ANY switch even after I have disabled the auto-negotiation for all switches, servers, and all PC's connected to them both. Is there a way to define a route (trunk) for the DHCP requests (assign the DHCP server a static route for those packets looking for 0.0.0.0 addresses?)

Thanks for your help!

I dont think you need to do anything with the auto negotiation. i feel autonegotiation has much to do with the port speed.

Set your switch to default settings and try.

Raj
