Dear Whoever's Listening

I've got a setup where there are two switches connecting to 1 4924 G/Bit Switch acting as a core. This in turn feeds up to a firewall and router for internet access. Both client switches (connected to ports 12 and 24) need to see 3 of the ports on the 4924 (ports 1,2 & 3) but as the two LAN's are sub-netted, I don't want them to see each other IP-wise. So far, so dull. BUT....Appletalk is making its way across all the ports on the 4924 switch and is wreaking havoc on both segments. We need Appletalk to be available separately to both segments but not to cross-talk as its doing now. Is it possible to make VLAN's in order to prevent this on the 4924. i.e.

Put port 12, 1,2 & 3 in Vlan A and put port 24, 1,2 & 3 in VLAN B?

Would that work? The documentation was pretty vague and I didn't want to stop appletalk altogether as both segments had started to appear in one zone and this would have interrupted my poor users once again.....?

Does this make sense?
