vlan status

We are running a cat 3550 with four 3548's trunk to it. We are currently running several Vlan's. On one of the 3548's we had about eight ports assigned to a specific vlan. Those ports stopped being able to access the network. When we went in and did a show vlan on that switch, in the status column for that specific vlan it displayed "act /lshut" We were able to assign those ports to a different vlan and they worked just fine, and this switch is the only one that displayed act /lshut next to that specific vlan

Does any one know what this means and how to correct it.
