Hi Guys,

I'm relatively green in terms of networking.

We have our network configured with serveral VLAN's setup. In one of our VLANS (50) we have a workgroup. If I connect a laptop to a port configured in VLAN 50 then I can access the workgroup.

If I try and access the workgroup from any other VLAN than 50 I'm informed that the workgroup is not accessable and that I don't have permission to access the network resource. I have full domain admin rights so I'm stumped.

Outside of VLAN 50 I cannot ping any of the PC's in the VLAN 50 workgroup. Inside VLAN 50 I have no problem.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Are you running 802.1q encapsulation on the ethernet of the router with multiple interfaces connected to a trunk port on the router?

Is File and Printer Sharing enabled (assuming it's Windows)? Can you ping the machines? If you can ping them, it's not a vlan/routing issue---it would be Windoze...

You would have to elaborate on how the network is setup and configured. You aren't giving us a whole lot to work with.
