Hi all.

I've been trying to setup a new 4200g (48 port) switch with 3 VLANS and struggling slightly.

The planned setup is as follows:

1-8 and 25-32 as VLAN 2
9-16 and 33-40 as VLAN 4
17-24 and 41-48 as VLAN 3

All different subnets
VLAN 2 = 172.16.100.0/24
VLAN 3 = 10.0.100.0/23
VLAN 4 = 10.1.100.0/24

What's confusing me is every port is part of VLAN 1 and I don't seem to be able to change that, it's also managed through VLAN 1. My management IP is 10.0.100.2.

After I tagged the appropriate ports as above everything seemed ok. Then purely by accident I had a 10.0.100.x device plugged into VLAN 4 but still got comms. I think this is due to the VLAN 1 but I'm a little confused, as there shouldn't be any comms between the VLANS.

Anyone know what I'm missing here?

I had the ports tagged rather than untagged. I should have only have had them tagged if running trunks through those ports (I believe).
