Hello,

I have a question about the default gateways of VLANS. I am creating some VLANs on a ExtremeNetwork switch that has routing capabilities. I have created the following VLANS:

VLAN1 10.10.2.1
VLAN2 10.10.3.1
VLAN3 10.11.2.1
VLAN4 10.12.3.1

When computers are in the ports assigned to these VLANs, the default gateway for that computer becomes the IP address of the VLAN (right)? For routing purposes.

ex. IP 10.10.2.5
Mask 255.255.0.0
Gateway 10.10.2.1

But the default gateway for the internal router is 10.10.0.1. Do I need to manually change the default gateway for everyones computer in the assigned VLANs or how does that work? Could I add a statement in the router or something mapping 10.10.2.1-to-10.10.2,10.10.3 etc..etc
Or what is the best way to do this?

I know this may sound confusing, I hope I am making sense.

Thanks

The computers in each VLAN should have a default gateway of the ip address assigned to the vlan interface, so 10.10.2.1, 3.1, 11.2.1, 12.3.1. This will allow all the computers to get to your cisco switch, then the switch itself needs a default gateway to your internal router 10.10.0.1. The command would be as follows:
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.0.1

Thanks.
Thats kinda what I thoughy I would need to do.
