Hi all,

I've got a few 4400 switches. I'd like to make a VLAN across al these switches. They are hooked up to 2 core switches using resillient links. This is working fine, just for some testing, but I'd like to make one VLAN across the switches, as I already said.

Could someone point me in the right direction, about how to do this?

Thanks!

How about the manual that came with the switch?

That would be a logical place to start, other than reading other information about VLANs that can be obtained by using a search engine on the Internet.

Hi Syquest,

Thanks for your ... response. I haven't got the manual anymore, but I know how to build VLANs. The only problem is that I dont know how to build them across the switches.

I'm not saying that I need exact info, a little push in the right direction about VLANs across switches is fine too, I dont quite know where to search about this subject.

Thanks..

On the uplink ports from switch to switch add all the VLAN id's as tagged members.

A quick 1 minute lesson.

Go to all switches and put the vlan(s) that those switches will be using

your core switch will have this info as well as vlan interfaces with an ip address for those vlan interfaces.

On all your switches that connect to the core, thier connecting ports will be trunk ports on both side you can permit vlan all on those trunks for now until you get a better understanding of networks.

hope this helps
