Anyone run into this issue. When playig a voicemail in visual voicemail, it displays Chinese words/letters. They only appear when listening to the voicemail.

Thanks for the reply Manie3.

System = Locale - United States (US English)
Extension = Locale - Blank

Should I change the extensions Locale to match?

Either changing the extensions locale or disabling then re-enabling Visual VM resolved the issues.

Thank you Manie3.

Did this issue come back for you? We recently upgraded a client from R9.1 to R11 (same build as you) and changing the locale did not fix the issue. Neither did turning visual voicemail off/on. Even with a reboot. They get all the normal prompts, but in addition they get Asian letters above the prompts only when checking visual voicemail. They are using 9608's at this location. Wondering if this is a sp2 glitch?

I'm seeing it on 11.0 SP-2, J169 telephone.
PRI does not have Caller ID Name enabled, just number
The characters show up without any spaces between them, where the name of the caller would normally be

Has anyone found a workaround on this yet, or will we just have to wait for 10.1 SP5 to come out? Changing the users locale and/or turning visual voicemail on/off did not work for us. IP500v2 R10.1.4

Does anyone know if the release 11 feature pack 4 fixes this issue with the Chinese characters being displayed in visual voice?

Richard, Are you saying that because you've tested it and verified it resolved the issue?

As Intrigrant stated according to Avaya's support site the fix is not included in Rel 11 FP 4

Telecomboy, that is from the release notes from FP4. I will find out today if it fixed it though. :)

Well I was wrong! Intrigant is correct. On my lab system with an analog line it looked fixed but I installed a new 500v2 on 11.0.4 with a sip trunk and the problem remains. Even better avaya said they dont have a patch for this version. [banghead]
