Visual Studio 2003.NET and errors

I have a brand new laptop, and I installed .NET framework 1.1, IIS, and then finally VS 2003.net, but I cannot get it to work, each time I start VS, it tells me that the web server is not running, I go look, it is stopped, start, and try again, same error, and in the event log there are all kinds of COM+ error messages.

This is a Windows XP SP2 machine, IIS 5.0 and .NET 1.1, I tried register iis command, everything I can find online, but it is not working. I have never had a problem on my previous laptop (which died), but this is not working at all, any ideas?

You'll have to find which error is causing the problem. We can't help if you don't know what the error is.

I reimaged the PC and loaded IIS from XP SP2 CD, then 2.0 framework, and I was able to get it going, must have been how 2.0 framework did not register with IIS correctly.
