I am trying to do a mass update on the product type field. I have exported the data through VI and trying to Import it back to the Inv Item Masterfile and it is givving me an error saying "Record is missing from SY_05.SOA" what am I doing wrong. I am doing this on our backup company database

What version of Mas?

If all you are doing is updating product type, then your import should only have two fields, 1) the item number, and 2) the product type (F, R, D, or K).

Does your backup company have the same item master file as your live company?

PS what version of Mas? Since you say SY_05 it must be 3.X.

what i did was copied the company from Live to Backup, and then went ahead and downloaded just the two fields and then updated my information and then tried to export. Do I export it to Item master File. We have 4.3

Not sure. Your data source, is it a text file? Can you post the VI Job? Might see something if I see the detail.

What I am confused about is you say you downloaded the fields, and then tried to export. Would you not have exported, modified, then import the data back?

I am sorry what I meant was I exported the files and then wanted to import them back. Finally I was able to import them after changing a setting in the data tab on the filed Prod_type. thank you for your help though
