We have an VFP v6 app that resides on our W2K file server. The clients are authenticated thru the domain and map a drive letter W to the shared network folder on the server. The clients have a small client side app that knows the drive letter and then can access the data once the shortcut is executed. We already know the security hole that exists with a user having the ability to go to Explorer and access dbf files in known location on the server.

Does anyone know if Citrix can help make this a more secure app?

Hi johndan

There will be no way to 'cure' this. Your VFP v6 application requires the mapping (W:\) for the software to work (it probably gets this info from ini file settings), and your users are required read / write access to modifiy the databases through the client.

A way around this would be that you could only have the software running on one Citrix server (assuming that you have a farm of server) and it would become a FoxPro server for your thirdy party product. All the other servers in the farm could be configured not to have access to the w:\, thus prevent access to the drive.

However, they will still be able to access the files via a UNC path, eg \\servername\share but it will be more difficult for a user to do this.

Hope this helps.
