Visual Cross Tab Report Design?

I am creating a report for a ship agent company that will show the availability of agents. I would like to show the days of the month as rows and all agents in separate columns. I would like to visually show if a agent is booked on any day.

I have a port call table showing [StartDate], [EndDate] and [Agent] for each vessel port call as my source.

I am thinking of using a cross tab query but am not quite sure on proper design. I would appreciate any ideas on gettng me started in the right direction.
