Visual C++6 newbie

I'm trying to learn Visual c++ at home Sam's Visual C++6 got me stuck on chapter 2, and I haven't be so confused in all my life, my program won't run . Anyone know any other routes to learning this programs at home ... Open to suggestions !! Thanks!

with other routes you might give up on chapter 3 or 4.
It's better to stick to what you have right now. Here's
the place to ask questions and that will help you more than
changing to some other stuff every 2 or 3 weeks.
