I am on the receiving end of hundreds of "mail delivery subsytstem" e-mails; presumably someone, somehow, has hacked into my e-mail account. After trawling through loads of forums no-one appears to have come up with a fix that works - I tried changing my e-mail account password, but it reverted back to the old one each time I closed Windows Mail down and re-opened. I have introduced a e-mail filter which automatically deletes these rogue e-mails, but it actually doesn't stop them coming in. Any ideas, please?

1. You don't change your email password by going into Windows Mail. You log into your mail account at your ISP web mail site and change it there THEN you change it on your mail client. You should do this ASAP and get assistance with that if necessary.
2. The mail could be being sent from your own computer if a virus is present on it. Therefore, follow these steps to check your computer for malware.
1. Install CCleaner. (Google CCleaner File Hippo.) Run CCleaner and clean out all temp files that it finds.
2. Download and run RKILL (Google serach RKILL Bleeping Computer)
3. Run TDSSKiller 4. Run MalwareByte's Anti-Malware or SuperAntiSpyware. You need internet for it to update, so try regular mode then safe mode with networking. If it won't update, run it anyway and see what it can remove. Then reboot and try the update and run again if it updates.
If you do 1 & 2 above, you should choke off the source of someone sending emails from your account or directly from your PC.

They probably haven't logged into your email account, simply spoofed your email address when sending their junk, so you are getting the fallout of NDR messages.

Thanks to both of you (goombawaho and ChrisHirst). I have now changed my E-Mail password (a Virgin helpdesk operator did it for me) and since then no problems. I regularly run both Spybot and Malwarebytes to protect my pc, and neither have found any virus. Fingers crossed, and thanks again.
