Vista Style Icons

Hello Guys,

I'm working on some 'flow-chart' style documents for some of my software here, And I've been using vista style icons that I've founded dotted around the internet. However I now need an icon that represents one of my companies products, which is a small Wi-Fi box. I have plenty of photo's of the unit, and i'm looking to design a windows style type icon for the unit.

Here is an example picture of one of our units,

The new units are now white instead of the greenish grey.

I know this is a pretty heavy and open ended task for a beginner, but I'm only looking for a simple artistic icon.

Has anyone got any good tutorials of advice on this kind of thing?

...not a windows icon, but a tutorial on a popular icon for mac os x may help with shading etc...
