PC has a 250GB disk, 225GB available. Properties of the hard disk show only 2GB free!! Total size of all folders on the disk is 25GB. Turned off system-restore and this made 33GB so free space is now 35GB, but that’s still 170GB missing or not available.

Any idea's anyone please.

Try the 30 day Evaluation of this program and see what it tells you about your hard drive.

Make sure you are showing both System and Hidden files via Folder Options/ View

Run the Disk Cleanup tool and use the "More Options" tab to remove all but the most recent restore point. Look at the available checkboxes especially the ones to do with error reports. Are you downloading or saving large video files as these may take up GB of room in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Look at useless files in the Temp folders too.

Have you tried running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.
