The Network:
A Vista Premium desktop is making a wireless connection
to a D-Link wireless rounter which is connected to a cable modem. Two XP pro machines are hardwired to this router.

What works:
All 3 machines are connecting to the internet OK.
All 3 computers are sharing folders.
The 2 XP Pro machines can print on the Vista Local printer.
The 2 XP Pro machines each have a local printer, and these 2 machines are sharing the printers OK.

What doesn't work:
The Vista can find the shared printers, but an error message "Access denied" comes up when trying to "add either of these network printers".

What I have tried:
All firewalls have been disabled or removed.
I have installed the LLTD Responder on the XP machines.
Checked the HP printers Web site for drivers, and was warned that actual Vista driver was not available, but XP Pro driver should work with reduced functionality.

Vista networking is set up as follows:
All computers share the same Workgroup name.
The Vista Network settings:
Network Discovery is ON.
File Sharing is ON.
Public sharing is OFF.
Printer sharing is ON.
Media sharing is OFF.
The Network Category is Private.
Vista shows all computers on Workgroup and Network Discovery

I believe that ICS is OFF on all computers.
Is this a permissions problem? They are at the
default settings.
The Everyone Group has full permissions on the XP machines.
Are incorrect or no printer drivers giving this confusing error?
Any Suggestions, I am about to remove the VISTA!!!

Try adding the all the individual Vista "user accounts" to the XP Pro computer users. Vista doesn't seem to care about the "everyone" group.
