I have problem Freezing Vista evry time when i start vista. as soon as it shows all icons of desktop after few swconds it freeze. i startes in safe mode and find this error in event viewr.

Event ID 6,
IRQARB:- ACPI Bios does not contain an IRQ for device in PCI slot 5, function 0.

I moved the cards in different slots but getting same problem.

sorry i forget to mention, I have XP Pro also on same computer and it runs fine without any prblem, but when i boot from vista (Dual OS) it freeze.

the version is RC1 Build 5200

Machine P4 3.0 Ghz, 4-Gig Ram, 300 GB HDD, Motherboard ASUS P5ND2-SLI Delux, i upgraded Latest Bios 1101

I have used Vista Beta2, RC1 & now RC2 and have had almost no problems but I used a seperate hard drive just for Vista & my computer is not as well powered as yours. My suggestion is to use a seperate drive to eliminate two operating systems, go from there.

wel i can try RC2 but can you please give me link for download. Linney gave one link but when i open it says RC1 not 2. Also i installed on different partion.

Wow don't know what happend to RC2 as all links go to RC1 Sorry

Maybe it was only a limited release to the public, and the quotas have now been filled?

This is just my XP Proforma reply, have a read, use what might apply to Vista, and ignore the rest.

"Will it Start and run correctly in Safe Mode. Can you check out how it runs if you login as any other user in Normal Mode?

If it is a profile problem then this may help.

See if you have any services that are flagging as "Starting" but not actually running.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Windows.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try another user in case your profile is corrupt.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking."

mostly it freeze at startup when bars moves from left to right whith Windows copyright......

yeah I notice the old RC2 links redirect now. I guess Microsoft must have Vista at RTM and are trying for a Christmas release or shortly thereafter.

One option left to you is to start removing the actual hardware one component at a time (with in reason)? Are there any conflicts showing in the Device Manager? See what running MsInfo32 from Start/ Run picks up?

If you machine is happy under XP it may be as well to wait for the manufacturers to get organized for Vista and forget about troubleshooting Vista Beta.

i checked with Msinfo32 and i found error in following, if you want some thing else let me know so i post those info too

I can't help you much other than to say that there might be a problem with the Drivers mentioned in those errors. Are there any updated Drivers available at Silicon Image?

Do you have SATA drives, is this a 64 bit system?

i just installed new fress driver and lets se whatwill happen,

yes its 64-bit system, yes i have sata drive installes, i installed vista 32, because many manufactrure did not have 64 bit drivers.

Any way, thanks a lot for your very kind help through out.

Uh, what was in PCI slot 5? Have you tried booting with nothing in the PCI slot(s), like nothing, then one card, then 2, etc?

Tim

There is no card in slot 5, there are only 2 cards in system

1. Graphic Card Nvidia Geforce FX 5500
2. Linksys Wireless card

Even i moved these cards in different slots and also removed wireless card but still it shows problem in PCI slot 5 IRQ. i can not remove graphic card because vga is not builtin on Motherboard.
