Hi I am a telephone engineer who dials into sites. We use a program to maintain our systems via IP.
Now we may not know the IP address of the remote system so the Application sends a broadcast out on 255.255.255.255 to see if it can see a registered mac.

Now Vista would appear to stop this. If I set preference to Uni Cast to the address it finds it.

Can I over come this at all.

Vista has what it calls network protection. Meaning it will not let a machine join a network until it figures things are safe. You "could" try to disable it and see if that works. Also I beleived I read an article about Vista shutting off broadcasting. Just remeber "VISTA a new Millenium"

Do you know where I would find this option?
