really..Iprefer Linux...no virus conserns..I think everyone who makes a virus, spyware, or exploit are just avant Linux users who make them in hopes that everyone will relize what a huge ass <b>RIP-OFF</> anything Microsoft makes is.

evidently you have not seen Cert.org Alerts in awhile.[noevil]

STOP NOW ! Before the usual (yawn) windows linux debate starts

Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.
Stu.. 2004

no debate here.

hackers/malware/virus/spammers are equal opportunity malcontents.

it is just that people should know NO OS is 100% safe.

i use Linux when i need it, Windows because i have it, and Mac - well i get my kids to help me![bigcheeks]

According to some industry pundits, the delay has more to do with marketing that techincal aspects.

MS said the same thing about XP, but they sent it anyway. I'm using Vista as a reason to upgrade to a Dual Core and SLI video.....postponing it will just make my upgrade cheaper.. no problem for me.(btw anyone know if Vista has a 64bit verson..or if the system requirements is going to be a 64bit proc?)

I'll wait for Service Pack 2 to come out before trying it. Did that with 95, 98, 2000 and XP. Also, by then, everyone is an expert and they can tell you what doesn't work. It will probably be a lot cheaper then.

Vista will be very 64-bit focused as they make the push to move to 64-bit in fact i don't think MS plan a 32-bit server OS at all.

As for waiting for SP2 Vista will practically be that before it's released, this is why they've pushed it back so many times they're aiming to release a product that's ready for once.

you are right Linux is a great OS and there is not much a of a virus concern, but the only reason there is so many viruses for windows Os is because that what type of OS most people use worldwide. Just Because there is alot of viruses for it, doesn't mean it isn't any good. i have seen and used vista before anyone else probably did, and it's quite nice if you ask me.

Also the people who makes viruses aren't doint it to make people change to other OS but because if there weren't viruses there wouldn't be antiviruses and antispyware programs. (lol) so lot of people without jobs.

Mac is the best Os if you ask me , but for the price your paying for it, how many people you think want to spend 3 G's on a pc. That's why for the price your paying for a microsoft product how could you expect it to be alot better or just plain equal to other very high priced 0S.

just my 2 cents, no disrespect intended.

Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, while others wonder what happened.

Mac OS is on a par with Linux in many ways but simply wins as it looks nice and is easy to use.
I'm a Linux fan but for the "Year of Linux on the desktop" to ever happen they need to ditch the programming hippies (i mean get them to program something for 'users' imagine if your car was made by rally drivers and you went shopping in it) and get a A: a marketing department or B: an interface research department GNOME/KDE vs Mac OSX no comp.
