I run a W2003 single server Domain with,up till now only XP Clients. I now have a Vista machine and am having difficulties with the following issues:

1. Login Script (mainly drive mappings) will not run.
I am able to logon from the Vista computer and I am able to browse the network and access any files that would normally be available to the logged on user. If I run the logon script after bootup. The drives are still not mapped but I do get the logon script generated welcome message.

2. The "home" folder specified in the user account profile does not appear.

3. Unable to install printers shared on another computer.
When I try to add a printer, no shared printers are listed.

Is there something else that has to be done to the server to enable Vista clients to work as expected?

Thanks.

Try running the logon script directly from the command prompt in Vista and see what the errors are.

I suspect that the above will assist in the second issue you have.

The printer issue sounds a bit weird!

Is the machine a member of the domain? It's DNS is all correct? Anything worth noting in the event logs. I've got 4 machine running Vista as a trial and haven't had a single issue so far. Didn't need to do anything special at all.

I'd suggest also post this in the Vista forum! :)

Ta,

I have not done this yet, so I do not have any specific information. But, I have been told by a Microsoft rep that you first have to run a version of forest prep and/or domain prep on your domain before you can add any Vista stations to it.
