I finally broke down to get a Vista machine but it won't connect to our VPN server running on a 2000 Server machine via the Routing and Remote Access Server. I've made MS-CHAPv2 the only allowable authentication method in the server and remote access policies. I changed encryption to strongest in the profiles too. I also copied some certs from the server to the client, I'm not sure if they were the right ones, though. I keep getting the vague can't connect eventid 20227 , error code 800. Before that are a few event id's 20222's informaing me a VPN connection has been initiated. My XP clients connect just fine. I've read a bunch of articles but just can't find something that works.

Thanks in advance

And, I just made some changes to the client registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\Parameters to permit weaker encryption.
