Just to let you know, I just installed SP1 on my Vista business machine. Everything went very well. I installed it under windows update. It went in clean and there are no problems - a happy camper...

Where is the SP for Ultimate???

You got it through Windows Update already? I didn't expect it to turn up this soone. FWIW, I've done dozens of up SP1 updates on vista Business & Ultimate - haven't had a problem yet.

Due to language pack problems, SP1 for Ultimate will not appear to later in the year. Amazing isn't it, SP1 is already months late, then just before release, they find a major problem.

I have installed SP1 on to my x64 Ultima, without any hassle and I am using a German version...

I believe that the SP1 issue for Ultimate only really affect the non standard language packs (ie English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish are ok), these are the additional language packs that you can download with Windows Update (30+ or so?).

FYI SP1 works just fine with Ultimate64 if you're using one of the above mentioned ok language packs.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

I downloaded the 32bit sp1 off of technet and manually installed it on my workstation which took about an hour. For whatever reason my WSUS 3.0 sp1 server doesn't see it, so I have no way to really push it out to our few clients running vista.

I'm curious to see if anyone has done this, and how do the users handle microsoft raping their computer for an hour.

The full SP1 does take a while to get in, there is a warning to the fact it may take an hour or so on the the first Setup screen in fairness to Microsoft.

Yeah it does, it's just how do you push that out to users and have that be acceptable.

If it comes from Windows Updates via the normal updating procedures, the size of the actual update in about 10 times smaller than the full SP1 exe, and therefor, I guess, the install time will be 10 times quicker?

Also you have to remember that MOST updates, that the stand alone DL has, are already installed on the PC, and it will only install those that are updated and missing, after the prerequisites are in place...

I'm using WSUS 3.0 server right now to push out MS patches, but I can't seem to get it to see, let alone download SP1 for Vista. All other Vista patches come in fine though.
