Hello, does anybody know what else i can do to change tha name of the visionfs server thay apears in the network.(from server1 to srvplc)
I have changed the host name of the server (i had to do also ,this). Giving uname -n i get the new name of the server
srvplc
but in the the network through my windows machines i see the previous one (which was the old host name of the server, since i changed it) Visionfs(server1)
Thank you in advanced

You should be able to run "visionfs setup" and change the name that is broadcast:
Code:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
VisionFS Server naming
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you like to change the VisionFS server's name settings?

Change naming? [no]

Thank you very much .I hope visionfs will keep the other settings after this and no need to start from he beginning(users, passwd....)

You can always tar up the /usr/vision directory beforehand. I'd do that with VisionFS "stopped".

Changing the VisionFS servername might not resolve all your issues. Some of that depends on the other servers on your network. If you are running a Microsoft network, some of those devices may end up with stale WINS entries.
