I have an organization chart containing over 260 personnel linked to a Microsoft Access DB. When positions or people change I need to right click on a shape to update the database (or update the shape with DB data). Can I create a macro that will look to the DB for updates, then make the necessary changes in the linked shapes?

The simple answer is yes.
How this is accomplished is a bit difficult.
You can use the Org Chart Wizard.
You can create a VBA module that verifies the orgchart on the Open Event.
If you choose the Open Event method you will have to handle a number of scenarios.
1) Information changes
2) New People
3) Relocation
4) Deletions - when there are subordinates
